π° SSB INTERVIEW CLEARANCE STRATEGY
SSB is a 5-day selection process that evaluates Officer-like Qualities (OLQs) in candidates. It includes:
Day 0: Reporting & Document Check
Day 1: Screening – OIR Test + PP&DT
Day 2: Psychological Tests – TAT, WAT, SRT, SDT
Day 3 & 4: GTO Tasks – GD, GPE, PGT, HGT, Lecturette, Command Task, IO
Day 5: Personal Interview & Conference

OIR (Officer Intelligence Rating Test):
Practice verbal & non-verbal reasoning questions.
Work on speed + accuracy.
PP&DT (Picture Perception & Discussion Test):
Observe picture for 30 secs → Write a story in 4 mins.
Focus on clarity, positivity, and logic in story.
In GD: Speak calmly, clearly, confidently.
TAT (Thematic Apperception Test) – 12 picture-based stories.
Use positive, action-oriented stories.
Show values like leadership, initiative, empathy.
WAT (Word Association Test) – 60 words, 15 sec each.
Avoid negative sentences.
Reflect natural personality.
SRT (Situation Reaction Test) – 60 situations, 30 mins.
Show quick thinking, moral values, and courage.
SDT (Self-Description Test) – What others and you think of yourself.
Be honest, positive, show willingness to improve.
Group Discussions (GD): Speak logically, listen actively, don’t shout.
Group Planning Exercise (GPE): Give practical, time-bound solutions.
Progressive Group Task (PGT) & HGT: Take initiative, support team.
Lecturette: Practice 3-min talks on various topics. Speak confidently.
Command Task: Show leadership & smart thinking.
Individual Obstacles (IO): Work on physical fitness and stamina.
Interview is based on PIQ Form – Know your details well.
Be prepared for questions on:
Academics, hobbies, strengths/weaknesses.
Life events, family background, ambitions.
Situational questions (what if…?)
Maintain honesty, clarity, and confidence.
Final decision-making round.
Dress well, stay calm.
Answer questions confidently, even if you are borderline.
Practice TAT, WAT, SRT daily.
Participate in mock GDs and Lecturettes.
Read books, newspapers (The Hindu/Indian Express).
Watch motivational military movies/documentaries.
Be active in sports and group activities.
Divide your week into sections:
3 days – Psychology
2 days – GTO & GD Practice
2 days – Mock Interviews & Fitness
Never fake your personality.
Stay positive under pressure.
Think and speak like a leader, not just a participant.
Physical fitness matters – run, do push-ups, build stamina.
